Comment on An Open Letter to an Angry Atheist: by Justin

"So if you view something as wrong but I don’t, who’s right? Or is anyone right? That’s okay when we’re talking about clothing or behaviors, but what about when it comes to genocide? How can you say that genocide is wrong? Maybe for you, but that’s just conditioned."

I'd be careful with that comment. I was returning home from a mission trip last week, and sat on the plane next to an atheist. Very polite, and mostly agreed to disagree and then talked about kayaking and camping, but one of his big arguments was, "How can you worship a Trinity that committed genocide several times in the Old Testament, and now the Son in that Trinity offers redemptive love?

Just saying, the genocide comment is a big argument in atheistic circles and we have to be prepared to speak to that.

Thanks for your article.

I won't deny that atrocities have been committed in the name of God, but you can't judge a system by it's misuse.

For example, how many evils have been committed in the name of science? Should we abandon the pursuit of scientific advancement? What about government?

Anyone can claim to be doing "God's work"…it's quite another thing to actually do it.

Doug, I will continue to pray for you, Cora and the family. I know and believe that God does work all things for our good, but my feeble human mind sometimes has problems realizing that. Excellent post. Your words always inspire me to keep pushing forward, to fight the good fight til the end. Thank you for always being an example of what a Christ follower looks like.

Oh how I thank God for our savior! The more I learn the more I understand the neccesity of the Lord sending Christ...the justice of His very being will be satisfied...thank you our sweet sweet Savior for loving our Father so intensely that you endured our punishment....without you I am doomed...because of you I will know righteousness....

Very good thoughts here. I had never heard it said that we are not sinners because we commit sins; but rather we sin because we are sinners. I like that. I really think you are on to something and your bible study will be awesome.

Thanks for the kind words, Jim. Feel free to use whatever you want from my site, if you find it useful. It's nice to hear from other Reformed Charismatics...it's a pretty rare breed.

I've linked your blog (CharismaticReformed) on this one and I think I just got you on Twitter. Welcome back to the digital world!
