How do you define “church”?
A church is a collection of believers in the person and work of Jesus Christ, living life together as a community, sharing joys, sorrows, and experiences, working to advance God’s kingdom on the earth until the return of Jesus.
Why a new church?
In per capita terms, the Southeast region of the US has one of the highest concentrations of churches in the world. So why another church? We feel led by God to be part of a church in which both the historical, orthodox teachings of the Reformation and the fullness of the Holy Spirit are both taught and encouraged. Throughout our searching, we have been unable to find this in any existing church. Hence, we feel the call to start Redeemer Community Church.
So, what’s different?
Redeemer Community Church is seeking to be different by challenging believers to walk in authentic biblical community with one another, creating an environment that is conducive to discipleship, growth, and a deeper knowledge of the grace of God in Jesus Christ. We also seek to be different by infusing an energetic, contemporary worship style with historical doctrine and truth, creating a community that worships God in Spirit, in Truth, in Christ. Also, as an overflow of that worship, we are seeking to be a redeeming presence in the community at large, sharing the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ with all who will hear.
What is “Reformed Charismatic”?
Reformed Charismatic is a term used to describe believers that are committed to both the sovereignty of God in all things and to the miraculous gifts of the Holy Spirit being alive, active, and available to believers today. We seek to see lives radically affected by the presence of the Spirit of God and by the proclamation of the Truth of God.
Okay, so what’s next?
We are working to partner with other believers that feel Redeemer Community Church will be a match for them. We are working to build a core group that will ensure that Redeemer Community Church has a solid base from which to work. We are working on the documentation that will incorporate Redeemer Community Church as a non-profit corporation, as well as the documentation that will govern it. We are also working on establishing community group meetings, implementing large group worship services, and securing a (semi-)permanent location which will serve as Redeemer Community Church’s first home.
